Operator & driver info: Free parking in Ruthin Craft Centre. Refreshments can be purchased on site in Café R and free toilet facilities. A Tesco supermarket is situated opposite the Craft Centre.
The Gaol is the one of the most popular places to visit in Ruthin, and is the only purpose-built Pentonville style prison open to the public as a heritage attraction in the UK. Spend time exploring its nooks and crannies and learn about life in the Victorian prison system and also discover its use as a Munitions Factory in WW2.

See one of the oldest dated timber framed town house in Wales, built in 1434/5 which has been carefully restored to seven different ages when the house was occupied. Also visit the wonderful Lord’s Garden.

Please note that Ruthin Gaol and Nantclwyd y Dre are open for general visits April-September and during the winter for pre-booked tours only. Groups wishing to have a person-guided tour need to pre book with venues. See websites for details.
Discover the legend where King Arthur beheaded Huail and the Old Court House, rebuilt after the last Prince of Wales, Owain Glyndwr, attacked the town in September 1400. The Old Court House which has interpretation material is sometimes open to the public during the summer months and arrangements can be made to view it with Ruthin Town Council.

Have some refreshments in the magnificent 19th Century castle and wander around the grounds of mediaeval castle, part of the iron ring of castles built by Edward 1 in its grounds.
